New Renderings of the Rebooted Mid-Wilshire Tower Have Arrived.

A rendering of the proposed tower at 6401 Wilshire.

A proposed tower at La Jolla Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard emerged from dormancy last April, when the developer filed new plans with the city, signaling that the long-in-the-works project was moving forward at last. Now, thanks to new renderings from Steinberg Architects, we’re actually getting a chance to see what the structure might look like.

The tower, from developers UDR, will rise 15 stories and incorporate both residential and retail. The residential component will be 90 luxury apartments (which appear to have balconies), while the retail will spread out across 5,100 square feet at street level. The development will have four levels of above-ground parking as well.

Steinberg is also designing an 18-story tower for UDR that’s on Wilshire and Crescent Heights. That one is anticipated to have 158 units on the smaller side, aimed squarely at a younger crowd. The architect and developer have also teamed up in Koreatown, working on an 18-story tower at Wilshire and Virgil Avenue.
